I spent the weekend assembling the rear interior and find that I have an ashtray hole in the passenger's side rear quarter panel. i have spent the morning looking for a repop ashtray just to fill the hole and I cant find a thing. Can anyone out there direct me to finding one. maybe someone has...
You know, we don't always find that "great deal" all the time when we are searching for parts. Especially when the parts are a bit harder to find in good enough shape to rebuild or refinish. I, like most of you have spent a ton of $$'s on repop parts.
I found an ad on Offerup from some guy in...
The radio will most likely have "Front and Rear" speaker wires. Usually, the minimum ohms per channel is 4 ohms. You might want to check the radio specifications to be sure. Typically, in this case, you will wire the front door speakers and the dual voice coil dash speaker "in-series" per...
I am wondering if you didnt jump the gun on this part. The fitting is held into place by the clip for the breather filter. When you buy a new filter, you get a new clip with it. Maybe yours is falling off because the clip is missing or the tabs need to be bent inward to hold the connector?
I...
When the shoe is bonded, the glue is put into the center and when the shoe is pressed into place, the glue spreads out. Theoretically, the side edges have the least glue and maybe that is why I have always had good luck removing them in the past. I used to be a car stereo installer and we...
Use a sharp 1" wood chisel from the side. Lay the chisel flat on the glass and tap it with a SMALL hammer or wood block. Two or three taps and it should pop right off. I have done this many times and never had a cracked windshield.
Update ! Update!
I replaced all the battery and ground cables with #2 gauge cables and bought a new Motorcraft starter solenoid. Topped off all the fluids and took her out on a freeway run. Kept the speed around 50-55 and the RPM's around 2500. The loop is about 25 miles. Temp, Oil Pressure all...
Thank you all for your suggestions. Here is the scoop.
Ground cable is new but connection is engine block to frame to battery. The engine to frame cable is new but the battery to frame cable came with the car and looks aged.
Timing is set @ 12 degrees BTC with about 32 degrees total timing. It...
I finished the seatbelt install and installed the seats. The car was ready for a test run and I just couldn't wait. My buddy and I drove the car around my neighborhood for about for about 20 minutes. Oil pressure was good, temp stayed stable and we made it home without a hitch. Until I shut the...
The new ignition switch did the trick. The engine fires right up using the stock ignition wiring (I love the sound of a cammed motor). While I was there, I installed a new ignition key cylinder with matching door locks. Now I have one key for the doors and ignition and one key for the trunk...
Well, after messing around and spending more money replacing parts, I finally found the culprit. It was the 50 year old ignition switch.
I just could not understand why I was reading 7 volts at the ballast resistor (ignition wire side) when the Mallory unilite device was plugged in. I said to...
I will try to make the video. I dont get home from work until 6pm and it is still kinda dark.
Tonight, I plan to re-ground the engine block to the point where the battery is grounded. Seems I am getting a hard cranking condition. When I crank the engine for more than 1 minute, the terminals on...
