Wire harness to door speakers
#1
Hey guys, I have a friend who is building a 71 Mach 1. It's way from original, but he is wanting to install door speakers. The doors do have the recesses for speakers (he thinks) but no idea how the wiring to them goes. Can someone post up a pic or two of a factory set-up. Pictures of the door with or without the speaker would also be very welcome. Basically, any help that can be offered.
Marc will be joining up soon and is from the Detroit area. Give him a big welcome. His car is a somewhat modified, yet factory appearing Mach 1. It will be Grabber Lime with a 429 or 460 coupled to a 6 speed gear box when it is done.
Geoff.

Edit: To clear this up, I meant the rubber factory boots that the wires pass through from the A pillar to the door.
Sorry if I mislead anyone.

Wiring spreakers is easy! Im assuming an aftermarket stereo. Just need speaker wire, Just connect the white/grey wires. 1 set per side...Look up which side is which.

He also did quite a bit of stereo work on his car. You should be able o find more by searching.

Thanks, but not what I was meaning. It's the boots I think they are called, not the actual wire.

Rackerm, thank you, thank you.
Exactly what my friend needs. Year doesn't matter as this car is a total rebuild throughout. It is a 71 and will appear to be a 71, but that's about all.
Awesome help there my friend,
Geoff.

If you're not concerned with originality, you can scavenge the wiring boots from just about any car with wiring in the doors. IIRC, other Fords and Mercs of the era use a similar, if not the same boot at the Mustang & Cougar.

I have the boots PM an offer. They are near perfect just have to find the bin they are in. I also did a post in the past and put the template for the speaker holes in the post. I have couple sets of NOS speakers, boots and wiring that has the template in them. Do not want to sell them I have two cars with AM/ 8 track and two with AM/FM.
There are dimples in the ends of the doors where the holes are for the speakers and through the A pillar also. In the post I did I put the pictures but here are a couple more.
It will be a few days before I can do anything neck / back is out I think I crushed a disc going to Dr. in couple hours.
