What does this button do?

Should be a simple question for you guys. There's a button/switch located under the glove compartment, mines broken so I'm not sure what its for.

"I love my Hookers!" and "Get some Strange" probably have a different connotation to non automotive enthusiasts!

Yes - it opens up flap to allow fresh air in.
I think is is only for non-ac cars. And I'm not sure about non-ac convertibles, but I think they had it as well. Hopefully someone will help me with this to confirm/deny.

I don't have it in my 73 A/C 'vert, so I think you're correct, Ray.

Ray is correct - I have one on both sides of my non-A/C H-code. You pull it to open the fresh air vent, push to close.

Make sure there's nothing living inside the cowl's air hats if you haven't opened them in awhile (or ever). Go ahead and ask me how I know to offer this advice. Wink Big Grin

They are in my 73 non-AC vert too. They are always good for a dust blast the first time you open them each season.

My '73 'vert has them as well, so I'm guessing that they were standard on non A/C cars at least.

When I first got the car (back around 1984) I thought that those stupid little vents never seemd (to me) to work very well, at least compared to the ones in my old '72 Mach 1. Shortly after I bought the cars a friend and I took it on a highway trip and we decided to open it up a bit. Somewhere (well) north of the then 55 MPH limit all hell broke loose! The previous owner must have parked near a pine tree and the vents were full of pine needles! When the pressure built up enough to push them free they came flying out of the vents and landed all over the two of us!

The good news is that the vents have worked fairly well ever since Big Grin
