What do you do when you have 8.0:1 compression and pinging in 1970's smogger Lincoln?

Go to the junkyard and rip apart a 1980 Pontiac Trans Am, apparently. Preferably of the turbo variety:

That's a two-barrel direct bolt-on downdraft/drawthrough turbo from said Trans Am in a 1978/79 Lincoln Mark V. Don't remember the exact specifics, as I saved this from a Hemmings ad that I found in 2010. Just found it in my archives today; thought I'd share.

Note that someone went through the effort of re-routing the heater core tubing too. Guess it started to get too hot rofl
