What differenciates the 1971-73 Mustangs vs the earlier models?
#1
This question is aimed at those who have owned and driven the 1970 and earlier models; Is there anything besides the ride quality which I have read a lot in the forum that these 1971-73 Mustangs have that earlier ones simply lack?

Legroom and headroom, handling, ride, performance, real disc brakes and real power steering. Overall just a much more modern car.

The best looking convertibles of any year.

Jeff T.

Low buck, touring style, '73 Convertible "rolling restoration", 351c, 2v heads with a shave and a haircut, Performer intake, Holley 650(ish), roller rockers, screw in studs, guideplates, stainless valves, Duraspark / Motorsports MSD, T-5 conversion. 1-1/8" front, 3/4" rear swaybars KYB shocks and some home brewed subframe connectors. Future plans; JGC steering box, Cobra brakes and... paint, interior, etc.

When I die I want to die like grandpa, peacefully in my sleep... not screaming, like his passenger.

Safer than the earlier ones where the top of the gas tank was the bottom of the trunk.

owning a 67 convertible.... I think its a great looking car... but I do like me a 71 convertible too. A 71 351 Ram Air car got my attention years ago.... still like them.

The fastbacks are far more impractical than their predecessors - and thus much cooler!

Also cool on our cars is the hidden wipers and the sleeker angled windscreen.

One thing I do miss about my old '70 Mach 1, and that was seeing the gorgeous quarter-panel "hips" when looking in the side rear-view mirrors.

I feel in general they(70 and older) feel cheaper made. Not as quiet and they feel loose. I guess this all still refers to quality.
