What a day!
#1
What a day it was today!

The wife and I decided since it was so nice out that we would take the vert for a drive. Tooling along the highway at about 70mph and all of a sudden....BANG! A tire blew, before I could get pulled over and stopped safely I heard that noise no one wants to hear.....the slap of torn rubber hitting metal. The sad thing is I noticed a shimmy when we were driving and I said to my wife, "I think that I need some new tires as I'm worried about the age of these". Guess I shouldn't have tempted fate.

So anyone have a spare passenger fender for a 73?

Sad to hear. Been there done it! At least you kept control and no one was injured. So, actually GOOD JOB!

Sorry to hear that. At least you two are OK. I know my tires are older, but the tread is like new and no obvious dry rot. But time to check them out again.

I think that's the next big purchase when it's back from the body shop. Glad you're OK, Ken!

Check the date codes on the sidewalls. Anything over 10 years old is on borrowed time.

I'm glad the damage wasn't worse Ken.

Thanks guys......it freaked the wife out pretty good, but it does give me a great excuse for a full paint job now.
