What´s the most collector treasured Mustang´71-73 ..??
#1
Hello folks, just thinking about and I´m wondering too, what´s the public / collector´s most reputable Mustang from the era 1971-´73 ..?? What model, what engine, what features..., in this light the best of the owner´s and collector´s Mustang´71-´73.
Most of You will answer the model You have, and You are right! goodjob ..but I am curious for public (the true collector party) opinion. Thanks for every griff. Have a good day.. Smile

From a "Collector's" standpoint, I would have to say it would be either the '71 Boss 351 (approximately 1,806 made) or the '71 429CJ/SCJ (approximately 1,865 made).

I would think the 71 Mach 1 with a 429 or a 71 Boss 351 would be amoung the most desired of the 71-73 Mustangs. The convertible or Sprints would be very collectible. Here are 3 71s that sold at Mecum in Indy this May. One is a Boss 351, one a 429 Mach 1, and one a 351 Mach 1. They all sold for $46-47k. I also agree that the one you have is the best one.

I don't think the general public could tell you what a 71-73 mustang is.

I think the rarest would be the most collectible and that would be a Q code 71, followed by a 71 429 with drag pack, then without drag pack, then Boss 351, then a 71 M code, then 72 Q codes (or maybe the reverse of those last two), then 72 HO, then 73 Q codes, then all the other 351s. The specific body styles I think would be Mach 1 then verts then all the rest.

That's just my guess, I'm sure others will rank them differently but I think this list is a good jump off point.

My Mustangs:
71 M-code Mach 1, Medium Blue/White Sport, 4R70W, 3L50, Factory Ram Air.
72 Q-code Mach 1, Pewter/Black Sport, 4-spd, 3L25.
65 Convertible, Britney Blue/White/White, more modified than original.
05 Convertible, Legend Lime/Tan/Tan, future classic??

How could anyone argue with someone who has a coral as large as Dons'. Personally, I think it's always the first and last year that sell. That being said, 71 Q code followed By 429 Drag Pack then 73 Q code. Me I'm a sucker for first and last years

2005 Dodge Magnum RT
1973 Chevelle 454SS (everbodys got to try one) Tongue
1973 Mustang Mach 1 Q code
1998 Cougar 4.6
1988 Cougar 5.0
1968 Galaxie Covertable 302 xfered to 429
1966 Thunderbird 390
1973 Mustang H code converted to Q code
1968 Cougar 302 hi-po
1967 mustang 289

God I've had some fun cars!!! Big Grin

72 sprint convertible Tongue

Okay - Boss 351's, 72 HO's and 429's take the coolness awards but imagine having a 429 convertible or HO ragtop. Those are really rare and who knows how many are left. The Shelby Europa is very cool but talk about really obscure.Sleepy
