Weekly Fun Question for January 26, 2013
Good Day All!

Please note that VIP Members are not eligible to participate in this exercise as a different problem is being presented on the VIP WFQ Forum for your entertainment and "bragging rights."

Specifics on the Weekly Fun Question (WFQ), to include information on awards and prizes for Winners, can be found on the thread below.

http://www.7173mustangs.com/thread-what-...tion--5488

Please note that when you submit your response, it will not usually be viewable until I release all the responses at the end of the exercise.

The Problem:

Based on VIN 3F03Q124842, please identify when this 1973 351CJ Convertible would have been built.

a. October 1972

b. December 1972

c. January 1973

d. March 1973

This exercise will end at approximately 7:00 PM (CST) on Monday, January 28, 2013.

Good Luck!

BT
For 1973, Sequence Numbers 111900 - 187700 were assigned to Mustangs produced at Dearborn for the month of JANUARY 1973, so the desired response is "C."

Other specifics assigned Numbers were:

100000 - 100100 assigned to July 1972

100000 - 119300 assigned to August 1972

100100 - 125200 assigned to September 1972

100200 - 143200 assigned to October 1972

100200 - 157800 assigned to November 1972

100800 - 169900 assigned to December 1972

**For the Weekly Fun Question, we usually accept the "source" from whence the WFQ was derived as the definitive response, however it has been brought to my attention that in the case of this week's question we have irrefutable evidence that the source may have been misinterpreted or may even be incorrect.

Our records, in the form of a Marti Report on a Members Mustang, show that sequence number cited in this problem could have been used in October 1972.

Specifically, Marti report for user "GravY"

http://www.7173mustangs.com/thread-73-co...ad+More%21

shows a serial number as 134299, which is greater than the one identified in the question. Gravy's Mustang was built on October 19, 1972. Based on this documentation, January 1973 could not be correct.

Good Day,

To repeat the problem:

Based on VIN 3F03Q124842, please identify when this 1973 351CJ Convertible would have been built.

a. October 1972

b. December 1972

c. January 1973

d. March 1973

For 1973, Sequence Numbers 111900 - 187700 were assigned to Mustangs produced at Dearborn for the month of JANUARY 1973, so the desired response is "C."

Other specifics assigned Numbers were:

100000 - 100100 assigned to July 1972

100000 - 119300 assigned to August 1972

100100 - 125200 assigned to September 1972

100200 - 143200 assigned to October 1972

100200 - 157800 assigned to November 1972

100800 - 169900 assigned to December 1972

Keep in mind that just because a certain sequence of numbers were assigned does not mean that ALL the numbers were used.

Based on the above, there was NO one who selected the desired response.

As stated in the guidelines for the Weekly Fun Question, we usually accept the "source" from whence the WFQ was derived as the definitive response, however it has been brought to my attention that in the case of this week's question we have irrefutable evidence that the source may have been misinterpreted or may even be incorrect.

A SINCERE THANKS to CZ-75 for having brought this to my attention.

It is also of note that based on our acceptance of this information, CZ-75 is hereby declared the winner of this week's contest. CONGRATULATIONS!!

Thanks!!!!

It's funny... my first response was D based on the serial number of my car (which was born in March '73) but then I realized I had gone dyslexic and transposed the 1 and 2, thinking it was 214842 in the question.

it's dyslexic being hell.
