Weekly Fun Question for 4-16-2011
Good Day All:

The Weekly Fun Question (WFQ) is an exercise to give "General" members the opportunity to test their knowledge on information relative to the '71 - '73 Mustangs. It is also designed to allow the same members the chance to "win" a nice #1 Icon when they are the first to provide the desired response. If a general member "wins" on three separate occasions, the member will have his/her membership (a $25.00 value) paid for a VIP subscription.

Please note that when you respond to this post, your "answer" will not appear until the end of the current contest (usually at approximately 7:00 P.M. {CST}) the following Monday when the thread is normally transferred to the "Archives" Forum.

While VIP members can also "play", their reward is "bragging rights" amongst their peers on the VIP Forum. General members are NOT competing against VIP members in this exercise. VIP members have their very own "contest" which has even more substantive awardsSmile.
The Scenario:

Your reclusive Uncle Jeff who has been estranged from the Family for 35 years has died and in his Will, he left YOU a 1973 Mustang with the caveat that you had to put it back to concourse shape. You are EXTREMELY happy when you find the car is ALREADY in concourse shape except the rear end is missing. Upon checking the door "tag", you find the axle code is "S."

The question for this week is:

Can you describe the rear end carrier assembly, axle shafts, the center section and wheel seals that will have to be acquired?

Good Luck!

BT
The key piece of evidenced is the "S" code for the axle code which relates to a 3.50 locking differential. For 1973 Mustangs, ALL rear axles with a 3.50 ratio received the 31 spline axles shafts, extra strength cast nodular iron center section and larger wheel seals.

To recap the scenario:

Your reclusive Uncle Jeff who has been estranged from the Family for 35 years has died and in his Will, he left YOU a 1973 Mustang with the caveat that you had to put it back to concourse shape. You are EXTREMELY happy when you find the car is ALREADY in concourse shape except the rear end is missing. Upon checking the door "tag", you find the axle code is "S."

Based on the responses to the question, 71 ramair 4-speed mach 1 is hereby declared the "winner." Since this is 71 ramair 4 -speed mach 1's third win, along with the award will be a paid subscription to the VIP Forum.

Please join me in congratulating 71 ramair 4-spped mach 1 on this win.
