Weekly Fun Question for 3-24-2012
Good Day All!

Specifics on the Weekly Fun Question (W FQ) can be found under the "Important Threads" section of this Forum

This week's WFQ is meant to "piggyback" on a query earlier in the week whereby a Member was looking for a driveshaft for his Mustang. The question is designed to magnify the fact that there were actually different driveshafts utilized during the production of the 1971 - 1973 Mustangs.

The Question:

Please identify which of the following application has the longest driveshaft as original equipment.

a. 1971 Coupe with L-Code, 3-Speed Transmission, 28-Spline Yoke, 3-inch diameter driveshaft and 3 15/32" Rear Joint

b. 1971 Convertible with F-Code, 4-Speed Transmission, 28-Spline Yoke, 3-inch diameter driveshaft and 3 5/8" Rear Joint

c. 1972 Mach 1 with Q-Code, C6 Transmission, 31-Spline Yoke, 3-inch diameter driveshaft and 3 5/8" Rear Joint

d. 1973 Fastback with Q-Code, C6 Transmission, 28-Spline Yoke, 2 3/4" diameter driveshaft and 3 1/2" Rear Joint

Good Luck!
The 1971 L-Code (250 1V) driveshaft, along with that of most of the 302-eqipped 1971 - 1973 Mustangs shared a length of 51 3/4 inches.

The 1971 F-Code (302) Mustangs with 4-speed, along with the 1971 - 1973 Mustangs with 4-speeds, and 28 spline yoke shared a driveshaft length of 50 21/32 inches.

The 31 Spline, aluminum case Q-Code (351 4V) for 1971 - 1973 Mustangs shared a driveshaft length of 47 7/32 inches in length.

The 28 Spline, C6 Q-Code (351 4V) 1973 Mustangs, along with the Mustangs for 1971 and 1972 shared a driveshaft length of 50 13/16 inches.

With the above in mind, the ONE General Member poster who posted, Hyena429 was absolutely correct in choosing "A" as the desired response.

Good Day All!

This week's Weekly Fun Question was developed to emphasize that some 1971 - 1973 Mustangs shared different lengths and/or diameter driveshafts, dependent upon applications.

To recap the question:

Please identify which of the following application has the longest driveshaft as original equipment.

a. 1971 Coupe with L-Code, 3-Speed Transmission, 28-Spline Yoke, 3-inch diameter driveshaft and 3 15/32" Rear Joint

b. 1971 Convertible with F-Code, 4-Speed Transmission, 28-Spline Yoke, 3-inch diameter driveshaft and 3 5/8" Rear Joint

c. 1972 Mach 1 with Q-Code, C6 Transmission, 31-Spline Yoke, 3-inch diameter driveshaft and 3 5/8" Rear Joint

d. 1973 Fastback with Q-Code, C6 Transmission, 28-Spline Yoke, 2 3/4" diameter driveshaft and 3 1/2" Rear Joint

We only had one response from the "General Membership" to count as a couple of VIP Members (who will remain nameless - LOL) failed to follow instructions and posted on this, the wrong Forum - - instead of posting on the VIP WFQ Forum.Angel

Congratulations, Hyena429 on this your SECOND win!
