Weekly Fun Question for 12-04-2010 - Test Your 71-73 Mustang Knowledge
#1
Good Day All!

This is the "Weekly Fun Question" to determine who will earn a nice "Number 1 Icon" as a result of his/her correct response. The first person who sends the correct response to Rocketfoot and Me via PM will be declared the winner. The winner will be announced at approximately 7:00PM (CST) on Monday.

The scenario for this week:

You recently purchased a real nice 1973 Convertible with a mildly modified 351 Cleveland. You ordered the "Marti Report" and through that document and other documentation you have determined the car previously had an Integral Air Conditioning which is no longer with the car (although the Evaporator Core was in the trunk). You have not had any luck finding an original Compressor or Condenser as "parts" 73 Mustangs with AC are few and for between.

The question this week is:

Can you name four (4) other vehicles (make, model and year) that utilized the same Compressor and Condenser as the one that originally came on the '73 Mustang with an Integral Air Conditioner?

Good Luck!

Based on a response I have received, please note that the question pertains to the identification of four different vehicles that share both the Compressor and Condenser of the '71 - '73 Mustangs.

That does not mean four vehicles that share compressors and four different vehicles that share condensers. The correct response to the question will identify a specific vehicle that shares both the compressor and the condenser.

This is important because there are MANY vehicles that share the same compressors but DIFFERENT condensers.

I apologize for the apparent lack of clarity in the development of this question and hope this helps with any other responses.

I'm out of town and only have a minute to check in, but there certainly does seem to be "familiarity" to this question. Tongue

I look forward to seeing the answer.

Good Day All!

We had four (4) responses to the question for this week. To recap, the question was:

Can you name four (4) other vehicles (make, model and year) that utilized the same Compressor and Condenser as the one that originally came on the '73 Mustang with an Integral Air Conditioner?

We DO have a winner - - more on that later!

First, it should be appreciated that there are a GREAT number of Ford, Lincoln and Mercury (FLM) vehicles that share the EXACT same compressor as the '73 Mustangs (particularly the early '73 Mustangs) with Integral Air Conditioning. In fact, most of these FLM vehicles shared the same compressors through 1981.

The key to this week's question is the identification of the vehicles that also shared the same Condensers. Those were more limited and are:

'71 - '73 Cougars
'70 Fairlane
'70 - '71 Montego
'71 Torino
'71 - '73 Mustang

As noted earlier, we do have a "winner" - - HEMIKILLER who correctly identified seven (7) of the vehicles that share both Compressors and Condensers with the '73 Mustangs.

Congratulations, HEMIKILLER!!
