Anybody ever pulled the bearing cover off a Kohler engine, Huh and if so how?
I really don't want to break it. It's aluminum and the only threaded holes are the 8-32's that hold the stator in place and obviousley can't use a puller on those. Need to put in a new piston and rings in due to the broken rings. Tongue

Would be greatly appreciated. Didn't want to try the 2 big screwdiver push from behind without some idea that I won't be buying a bearing cover!

Can you get a model number for that? I may be able to provide a manual. What machine is it on? how old? Can you show the other side? Is the cylinder removable, iron cylinder aluminum crankcase?

Got the rascal off with a REALLY LARGE screwdriver and minimal force (for me) Tongue. Turns out the gap on the rings were all in the same line. Thanks for your willingness to help though. I'm sure that cover is pricey!

Are the rings stuck to the piston?

A good hone to deglaze the cylinder and a new set of rings and you'll be good to go.

Exactly , except I had already bought the piston/rod/gasket set. So I think for free this is going to turn out pretty well. Deck and everything else is in great shape.

After shooting some Gumout in the carb, I hit the key and it fired right up. Smile For 2 seconds! Dodgy Bad diaphram in the fuel pump that was discontinued 5 years ago. Finally found one on partstree.com. $120 but that does include $9.95 shipping! Should have put a Cleveland on it! Angry
