Water temp
#1
Converted my car over to a gauge from the dummy lights. We completed the wiring and replaced the sending unit. Every time we crank the car, it immediately moves all the way over to hot. We checked the resistance on the harness and everything checks ok.

Thoughts?

Check for resistance from the pin on the dash cluster to the water gauge to ground. I'll bet it is close to zero ohms, and it shouldn't be. That indicates the wire is pinched and shorting somewhere.

Also check that you are feeding it from the output side of the IVR, not a full 12 volts.

It does not move at the key on position. Only when running. Still need to check volts.

Do you mean the key in the RUN position but the engine off, the gauges are OK? It pegs when when the engine is running?

If so, that's some serious screwed up backfed wiring. Is this stock or aftermarket wiring?

We wired it based on the message you sent me on how to wire a center gauge in a car that did not originally have one.

OK....I don't remember what I told you, but something ain't right. I suggest you contact me (PM, e-mail, phone), remind me what I told you and let's work this out for you.

I went back to my PM's and you're converting a non-centered gauge car to a 3 center gauge dash. I gave you general instructions for how to do it, but it now seems like you did not tap into the right wires. So contact me directly with exactly what you did, and let's get this straightened out for you.
