Water restrictor plate thermostat
#1

With the trouble getting an actual Cleveland thermostat and the trouble that may or may not follow with it working properly or not I'm putting in the restrictor plate. https://secure.cougarpartscatalog.com/wa...plate.html

My question is, do I simply pry out the old center and replace with the new one?

Yes.

Or buy this one...pricey but very good quality and your engine will be able to circulate coolant throughout, even when the thermostat is closed. (the purpose of the copper bypass washer)

I think the original style is now being made flowkooler using the original Robertshaw number 333-180.

Here is the link.

NAPA and other parts stores usually have the thermostats in stock.

I had read about the potential hot spotting ford was trying to avoid. Hopefully this solution doesn't cause any issues.
