VIP Weekly Fun Question for March 11, 2013
SUPERSTARS!

The VIP WFQ for this week is in two (2) parts. The problem:

Please describe the circumstance(s) by which the "Exterior Decor Group" option could be ordered on a "63D" Body-coded Mustang during the 1971 - 1973 production period. A correct response will include the number of such Mustangs that were built.

This exercise will end at approximately 7:00pm (CST) on Monday, May 13, 2013.

BT
The desired response is that the "Exterior Decor Group" was ONLY available with the 1972 Fastbacks (63D Body Code). There were 3,086 such vehicles built in 1972.

I honestly have no idea on this one. So I will take a guess based on my research. 7,412 built with exterior decor groupe.

SUPERSTARS!

To repeat the problem:

Please describe the circumstance(s) by which the "Exterior Decor Group" option could be ordered on a "63D" Body-coded Mustang during the 1971 - 1973 production period. A correct response will include the number of such Mustangs that were built.

The desired response is that the "Exterior Decor Group" was ONLY available with the 1972 Fastbacks (63D Body Code). There were 3,086 such vehicles built in 1972.

To get to the desired response, one must know that the "Exterior Decor Group" was first available for the 1971 - 1973 production period in 1972. That year, the ONLY Fastbacks (63D Body Code) to receive the option was on the 1972 Sprint fastbacks which had 3,086 units built. The option did not exist in 1971 and there were NO 63D body coded Mustangs built in 1973 with the "Exterior Decor Group."

Based on the above, Boss1Ray has provided the desired response and is the "winner" of this week's VIP WFQ. Congratulations, Ray on your first win!
