VIP Weekly Fun Question for December 8, 2012
SUPERSTARS!

This week's question is a "Special" one in that the First VIP Member to provide the desired response will receive a $100.00 store credit with Ohio Mustang Supply, along with the usual "bragging rights", Icon addition and option to develop the next VIP WFQ.

This question is designed to "tie" many of the questions together that have been posted this past year and is another iteration of a previous question.

The Problem:

Which of the following "Vehicle Certification Label(s)" is not correct for the 1971, 1972 or 1973 Mustang called out on the label? The correct response will identify the incorrect Label(s) and identify what data is incorrect for the application. Keep in mind that the "Date Code" is correct for ALL applications.

a. Date: 11/70 VIN: 1T03H167321
Body: 65D Color: 3J Trim: 1A Axle:6 Trans: X DSO: 41

b. Date: 11/71 VIN: 2F05H105732
Body: 63R Color: 6E Trim: GR Axle: L Trans: 6 DSO: 16

c. Date: 11/72 VIN:3F01Q104891
Body: 65D Color: 2J Trim: AA Axle: R Trans: U DSO:71

d. Date: 03/73 VIN:3F02L191243
Body: 63D Color:3K Trim: AW Axle: 2 Trans:1 DSO:92

The First VIP Member to post up with the desired response, to include the correct explanation (if applicable) as to why the cited "Vehicle Certification Label" is invalid for the application will be declared the "Winner."

This exercise will terminate at approximately 7:00 PM (CST) on Monday, December 10, 2012.

Good Luck!

BT
The desired response:

a. Incorrect for VIN as "167321" was not a valid serial number for Mustangs produced in November 1970. Invalid for body as 65D (Hardtop) does not match the "03" (Convertible) Code called out in the VIN. Invalid for Color as 3J (Bright Blue Metallic in 1972) was not a valid color Code for 1971 Mustangs.

b. Incorrect for Trim as "GR" trim code Medium Green Knitted) was not available with 1972 Mustangs with "6E" (Medium Bright Yellow) exterior paint. Also incorrect for Transmission (6) as the close ratio 4-speed was not available in 1972.

c. Incorrect as Color 2J (Maroon in 1972) was not available in 1973.

d. This could have been an accurate Vehicle Certification Label.

Okay - I'll take a stab.

1T03H167321 - 03 identifies it as a convertible but Body 65D identifies it as a Hardtop. I could not find 3J as a color either. I don't think that Bright Red(3) and Grabber Blue (J) was a two tone option.

2F05H105732 - I believe our issue with this one is the transmission. A 4 speed toploader but with the wrong gear ratio.

3F01Q104891 - A Q code hardtop for 73! Nice car but what is color 2J?

3F02L191243 - A nice Blue Glow basic 73 sportsroof with a 250 1V six and 3 speed manual. An export model. Anyone out there own it?

A, 1971, the Color 3J was not a Valid color code
B, 1972 Trans 6 is not not a Valid transmoaaion code.
C, 1973 Color 2J is not a Valid Color Code
D, 1973 all of the code is fine.

I hope this is right, this one made me think Big Grin

SUPERSTARS!

Absolutely no one provided the FULL desired response!

To repeat the problem:

As stated, no one provided the "Full" desired response, however it has been determined that a couple of Members came close with Steven Harris coming the closest with most of the desired responses. Considering this, it has been decided to accept his entry as the "Winner." Steve, please take action to contact Don at Ohio Mustang Supply about claiming your $100.00 store credit. You have also won the option to develop the next VIP Weekly Fun Question. Congratulations!
