VIP Periodic Fun Question for December 13, 2014
Superstars!

The VIP Periodic Weekly Fun Question (PFQ) is an exercise to give "VIP" members the opportunity to test their knowledge on information (sometimes obscureSmile) relative to the '71 - '73 Mustangs. It is also designed to allow the same members the chance to "win" a nice #1 Icon, bragging rights amongst their peers and the option to select the "problem" for the next exercise.

In commemoration of the holiday season, this is a special exercise whereby a store credit of 100$ will also be awarded to the winner.

Upon completion of the exercise, ALL the Members providing the correct responses will have a response number assigned to their response and that "blind" number will be "pulled from a hat" to determine the winner. Either Boss1Ray or myself will have someone at our location pull the winning number.

The question for this exercise was derived from the old "VIP Weekly Fun Question" archived forum during the period July, August, September, and October 2012, right here on the Site.

http://www.7173mustangs.com/forum-archives--84

This means EVERYBODY has a chance to "win" simply by going to the appropriate forum and researching the problem.

Please note that when you respond to this post, your "answer" will not normally appear until the end of the current contest (approximately 7:00 P.M. {CST}) on Monday, December 15, 2014) when the thread will be transferred to the "PFQ Archives" Forum.

The problem for this week:

As it relates to the 1971 Mustangs, explain why the "Vehicle Certification Label" (AKA Door Data Sticker) for those Mustangs built starting in November 1970 did not have the "MADE IN U.S.A." phrase affixed to the label.

Again, this exercise will end at approximately 7:00PM (CST) on Monday, December 22, 2014.
Good Luck!

The tags changed as a result of Ford building cars in Canada. To prevent having to develop two different tags, the "MADE IN U.S.A." was deleted.

Example below

MFD. BY FORD MOTOR CO. 100001
OF CANADA LTD, IN CANADA
08/71 THIS VEHICLE CONFORMS
TO ALL APPLICABLE FEDERAL
MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARDS
IN EFFECT ON DATE OF
MANUFACTURE SHOWN ABOVE

Hopefully, we will be able to resolve this issue by the next exercise.

Keep in mind that the "Winner's" name will STILL be pulled from a hat containing the names of ALL who post up with the desired response.

Because Ford started building cars in Canada, they changed the tags so they wouldn't have to have two different tags.

Well, there were only four (4) responses and all four were correct.

The problem was taken from the September 29, 2012 VIP WFQ archives.

http://www.7173mustangs.com/thread-vip-w...er-29-2012

I made folded cards numbered 1-4 (based on the four submitted responses in the sequence submitted) and had the First Lady to pull the "winning" number.

The winning number is "2", so congratulations are in order for "rvtrash", who will receive a neat Icon, the option to decide the "Archived" date from whence to take the next VIP PFQ and PFQ exercises, and a $100.00 gift certificate with "Ohio Mustang Supply."

Quite frankly, I am very surprised there were only four responses especially since "imusa76" had submitted the first response which was apparently viewable by ALL VIP members. In fact, based on "imusa76" FIRS input, we are also giving him a $100.00 store credit with OMS.

Congratulations to both Members!
