Undercoating Applicating
#1
What are the "proper" areas of the front end to apply undercoating? Should I do the inside of the shock towers as well as the firewall outside the front apron?

I don't know about 'proper,' but I wouldn't go much further forward than where the firewall starts turning 'up' from the floor pans. Seems to me like the engine heat might melt a thing or two. I don't see why hitting the outsides of the fenderwell aprons would be a bar thing as well. I don't know if Ford did much in the way of undercoating.

Hopefully one of the guys with a factory-spec car will chime in.

It is the subject of a lot of debate for restorers as is the use of sound deadener. If it isn't for show, do it how it makes sense to you. Chuck

When you say "undercoating" do you mean spray bomb undercoating in a can ? If so It isn't going to do jack to protect insulate sound dampen what your trying to protect..Best bet on your car AFTER you apply what ever your applying to the stripped metal is to use either spi bed liner (what I'm going to use) or 3m rocker shultz The insides of the fenders should also be done with the same product

The 3M Rocker stuff is awesome! I bought a can and did the insides of my Jeep's fender wells - then painted engine enamel over the top.
