Ultra-rare option for '72 Mustang: Anti-Lock Brakes
#1
Most are not aware that Ford offered an early ( and unreliable) option on '72 Mustangs of ABS. Ford named it "Sure-Track Braking", and it was archaic in design. It used sensors on each rear wheel to detect rapid speed changes of more than 20%, which predicted wheel lock-up. It had such a slow reaction time and functioning application speed ( it could apply and release the brakes up to 4 times a second. Yes...4 times) that they were all recalled, and the option was cancelled...never to be seen again until 15 or so years later as an actual computer-controlled ABS system.
