Took it for a test drive, met another mustanger so we stopped and chatted
#1
While I had the drivetrain apart doing the GV upgrade I figured I would send the tach off to rocketman to get it fixed. While I had the dash apart I figured I would see if I could clean up the aux gauges. While I was into it I guess it seemed like a good idea to swap install the LED lights. Oh yeah, I may as well install the vacuum controller. Hey! time to install the new dash pad.

Okay, you all know how it goes.

Anyways, got to drive it today. First time in a while. Felt great. But here is the cool thing. I fired it up, drove out of the neighborhood, took a left turn and drove a half mile to the stop light. Turned right and started to enjoy my drive.

A mile or so down the road I got caught at a stop light. A car pulls up next to me and I take a quick look. HEY! That's a 72 mustang coupe! And it looks nice. The young driver and I exchange a few words and the light turns green. We get caught at the next light and agreee to stop over at the next gas station.

Nice guy. 20 years old. He did all of the body work. A nice running 302, aluminum heads, headers, eddy 4bbl carb. I like what he did with the paint. Bonus is we both run cragar s/s 14" rims. Wink

The coupes look fantastic in deep gold tones - and I love the vibe of the Marauder X100 in the rear end treatment. Really nice job.

So far I am very very happy with it. I had to cut my drive short since the speedo wasn't working AND the gas gauge had gone out on me. Without the speedo I have no idea of how much gas I might have left.

The first to first over is a blast. I did that a few times. I also jumped on the freeway again and you might not think seven or eight hundred RPMS would make a difference at around 65 mph but it does. And I now have my passing gear back! At around 65 mph on the mostly empty freeway with the GV on I dropped it into 2nd gear and took off. How fun. Pulling into the neighbor hood my gas gauge started working again and the speedo will get fixed this morning. Hopefully I can take it for a longer drive today.
