Sounds like a good topic to me. I had a '66 Chevy (with a '67 hood) back in '76.

I had a 67 cougar... When I moved to where it snowed 14 yrs ago, I was convinced I needed a 4x4 to be able to get around. Traded it straight across for a pile of crap, brown 84 bronco... That was my big oops... hurts every time I think about it.

Wow ...nice 66 Chebbie!

I was looking through my photobucket. The 65 SS was one of my favorites. The 70 Cougar was intended as the "next in line" and out of the blue the Vert's owner came up to me and said "its for sale"....well the little Cougar became a profit margin, is now owned by a Stripper in Tampa. TRUE....she rolled out a wad of 100's and after paying me.... stuffed what looked to me like mulitple THOUSANDS back in her purse. I wanted to help her haul it home.....but the wifey was giving me these horrible mean looks.Big Grin

Very sharp Chevelle there.

It was so easy to buy a cool car in the 70’s. Besides the ’66 Chevy I had a ’67, ’68 , two ‘69s and three Camaros (not all at the same time).
My first performance car was almost a hopped up ’65 Mustang but the owner wanted $1200 and I would not go over $800. A few months later I heard he took $500 for it.

Just before the original oil embargo I was split between picking up a C3 Vette, a Shelby Mustang and a Series 1 E type. Three grand would buy a nice version of any of those at the time. I went with the Vette.

My very first car! 1965 Ford Galaxie 500! 390 4v, dual exhaust. Sounded like the Bat Mobile when you floored it.

Thanks Lux!! It took me 6 years to build it.... PARTS???? OMG...they were horrible to find. The car was stripped and abandoned in Ky.. The guy I got it from like me was also from that area bought it and brought it to Texas. IF that car had a bolt....it was not with it. I searched high and low for parts from all over the country. apparently they were PERFECT for racing. Funny story ...I tracked down the original owner...I was just about to send him a letter and a pic of the car. wifey says "what if the car was stolen?" Needless to say I didn't send the letter and pic! Big Grin

Sicn..... I love those old school custom paint jobs.

They weren’t old school when I sprayed them. Confused In the first half of the 70’s I could buy a Vette put on a wild paint job, beat on it for a year then sell it for a profit. By the end of the 70’s the trick was to find one that had a custom paint job on it, spray it a stock color , beat on it for a year then sell it for a profit.

The wild stuff from the first part of the 70’s has a small but loyal group of fans these days. I didn’t care for the late 70’s -80s “graphics”. I did the graphic stuff for others but my cars were in the earlier custom style.
