Thighten up the crankshaft damper
#1
Hi,

what is the correct procedure of tighten the crankshaft damper?

I had tried it with the car on the ground and put in reverse gear but couldn't get it into my torque range - engine turns always over...

Thankyouyellow

Take the inspection cover off the transmission bell-housing. Stick a large screwdriver into one of the flywheel plate holes (this is where a friend helps you or do it with the car on jack stands so you can reach the damper bolt with socket wrench and flywheel with screwdriver at the same time until the screwdriver is held in position by the rotation of the flywheel). Torque to spec.

Bill,

thank you, sounds good! Hadn't been aware of that I have a inspection cover on my manual transmission I can get in to the flywheel...

Is that the regular procedure of tighten that thing up or did I easily forgotten it by building up the engine before reinstalling it?

Hmmm...put in gear and apply the emergency brake or have friend apply pressure to brake pedal.
