Nobody outside of this forum would give me a thumbs up with the current state of my '72, but as a Corvette owner and also a Jeep guy, I can report that "the wave" is alive and well in those groups, and I look forward to getting the same when my 72 is complete.
I get waves from any kind of vehicle. Even old Corvairs! Our 2004 Mach 1 also gets a lot of attention and waves too. Of course I always wave back or even wave first!

When I die I want to die like grandpa, peacefully in my sleep... not screaming, like his passenger.
I get waves and a lot of "cool car" conversation starters when stopped at a light. Mostly "what year is it?" but also a few "what is it?" from younger kids.
I get the wave from pretty much all classic cars and mustangs of all years. And a few from new Camaro and Challenger owners also.
Lots of waves. And lots of slaps on the back of the head.Waves from young women and slaps on the back of the head from my wife!!!
