Taking a chance here

For the most part I'm a very happy person. I get along with all kinds...even some Democrats. I have friends of all races...creeds or whatever. your nice to me I'll be nice back. I'm always laughing and dont take very much serious. I'd rather have fun. Dont step on me cuz...I do admit to having a short fuse and I'm more than willing to back it up. Knowing that I "go out of my way to avoid confrontation". So far for 35 years of being an adult it works.

So the wife and I are pretty involved with the swim teams in the community supporting our daughters sport. We dont brag on her at all. Sometimes to her discredit we avoid "the my kid is better than your kid" talk.

Now then we actually owned one of the teams for a short while and I let this cat (who had been supportive) be the president. Knows the sport well. He gets a little full of himself and works his magic with a few to kick us off the board. We handed the ownership over to him and wrote it off. Keep in mind this all started over my observation he was ruining the finances among other things. He has talked us down to EVERYBODY. NOw I will admit that I did give him a ration of shhtuff for awhile and dared him on occassion to shut up or redeem his rewards or even get an attorney if he was so TUFF.

We join another team and avoided everybody ...we are happy and moved on while he continued "attempting to discredit us". He wouldnt let it go.

We find out this weekend he has cancer.....

Honestly I cant bring myself to care! My wife the goes to mamby pamby land and wants to be all forgiving. My thought is you treat me like an azz while your alive why should I care. I forgave them and moved on. But now this faces me.

Opine..... I won't kill you Cool

Sounds as though he is already reaping that which he sowed. What we decide to do in our lives is what determines that. That being said, Do what you feel to be right for your feild.

I agree with you. Why should you care it's not like you gave it to him. I wouldn't wish it on anyone but that is not the issue here.

Just be the bigger man... because he dumped on you doesn't mean you can't be supportive of his wife and kids. Rub it in with kindness.

It says in scripture that would be like heaping hot coals on his head... just sayin'

Are you his doctor? No? Then you can't do much for him anyway.

If it were me in your shoes I would be nice when around them but otherwise not go out of my way to seek opportunity to be around them.

Well around here you piss somebody off once it might be for life. But its easy to set back and tell somebody what you would do but until you are there you really don't know. Some song once said I can fix everyone's problems except my own. Tuff call, I think I know but hard to say. I'm leaning with Don.

Just my opinion, Don and Droptop are spot on. I always try to be the bigger person. In the end you have to look at yourself in the mirror everyday, it is entirely up to you how you handle this idiot or the next one that comes along. Good luck...

Thanks guys!

We noticed that the more we ignored the situation most folks came back around and continue to be good friends. The ones that "believed him" (because I never explained my position) which the count was few....well they were the exact ones I never really trusted in the first place.

As far as things like supporting the family...well that's kinda tough too.
Problem with being supportive of the family is the wife was a bigger part of the problem. The oldest kid still calls me for advice or comes over if he needs auto help.

Odd dont you think...if you are the bigger person..you move on life is still good, you are happy and those types keep living the a drama filled life.
Like you guys said...I'll continue keeping my family away from the drama and be polite if confronted.

oh.... and it is kinda odd about the karma thing. We had a small team of almost 65 participants and competed against teams of 225 and 300 successfully....he's down below 10 I think.

Sounds like you have it figured out. A person can have compassion and forgiveness for another who is seriously ill without having to change your personal or professional relationship with them. Forgiveness is a state of mind, it doesn’t mean you have to allow that person to abuse your trust or take advantage of you in the future.
