Still searching Mach 1

(09-19-2018, 05:20 PM)Carolina_Mountain_Mustangs Wrote: I was going to do some searching for you today but our power was off from this morning until after 4:00.
Are you set on a Mach 1?? I did a quick look close to me and here are a couple much better than the one you are looking at. One has been on market for a while so that tells you what the market price is. They both are well equipped one a vert one a Q code 4 speed Mach 1.
I can arrange any type of shipment you want. Can have complete restore here or ship as is. Of course I would go inspect in person and take much more detailed pics. Inside the cowl and close in the trunk. Also lots of pics on lift to show the floor.
So here is a starting point.
DO NOT JUMP INTO A PURCHASE LIKE THE ONE YOU ARE LOOKING AT. He obviously bought the car and it is a pile of junk and he wants to sell quick.
1973 vert listed 3 days ago, $18,500
 https://tricities.craigslist.org/cto/d/1...24144.html
73 Q 4 speed Been on cl for a month
https://knoxville.craigslist.org/cto/d/1...56149.html
$15,000 negotiable.
1971 - 1973 mustangs are available every day so do not make a quick decision. Money talks for sure.  You want a car with lots of options that has nothing hidden. Look for a car that shows what is there. You can skim coat a body with bondo and make it beautiful until it gets wet and all the rust comes out.
I will look some more tomorrow. With the power out most of the day I did not look much.
Cheers,
David

What do you think is wrong with that knoxville car

Gas is for cleaning parts, alcohol is for drinkin, nitro is for racin

That is so weird some see my links some do not.
I had put links to two cars a 1973 Q code 4 speed Mach 1 yellow with Ginger interior in Knoxville, Tenn.
The other is a 73 Vert H code in Greeneville, Tenn.
Here are the links to the Craigslist ads again. Both cars need some work I am sure. I think the owner of the Yellow Mach 1 her husband passed away and she is selling.
Trying to help Vincent find a Q code 4 speed but thought there might be some interest in the vert. It did come with NASA hood and black out shows on the Marti. I would price way under the asking price due to market being down on cars right now.

If the link does not work cut and paste in your search header.
Both came up on search on craigslist in Asheville, North Carolina. Atlanta usually has lots and Charlotte.

On craiglist , there's a Mach 1 depicted by the seller as :

"This is a Q code Mach 1. 460 cu. in. big block and 4 speed top loader transmission"

I thought Q code was for 351.. do i missed something ? Chin

You are correct, that is what it originally had. If it does have a 460 somebody changed engines. Hard telling what else may have been changed and hard telling if they did the modifications correctly.

It has a 5 speed transmission, so is not original. Very short on information. With that price I'm surprised it has been on CL for 25 days. I would be concerned about that one.

The yellow one listed in Knoxville is actually up in Vermont. it's been for sale here for a couple years. Started at 20K when her husband was alive.

While not having seen the car in person, I'd be inclined to pass. She's stuck on a number and the car really isn't worth $15k, especially since it's going to need a full repaint and probably some panel replacement.
