Sound deadener
#1
What did the factory put as a sound deadener behind the back seat? I read in here about using 1/4" foam above the headliner. That worked great as an insulation and sound deadener. I was thinking of going to something like that under my package tray and between the trunk and seat except thinner.

I saw where someone was waiting on a aquatic sound deadener for their headliner. I want to look into that as well since I plan on a lot of noise externally. thumb

I used the regular deadener under my carpet and continued it under the back seat. Then I used a foam insulation under the headliner. I don't have anything between the back seat and the trunk except a vapor barrier like under the door panels.

I used this in my 71 camaro
http://www.raamaudio.com/ I did the roof panel...floors..inside the doors..& the rear package tray..1 package did it all !! with 2 squares left over. It's non tar based & worked amazing the car sounds like a new car when you shut the doors..It's got the KA TUNK..I would make a 1/8" masonite board to go in between the rear seat & trunk area Then apply the Ram Mat. I'll be using it in my stang too!

This is close to correct. I'd send more pics but I can't figure out how to shrink the file size. I bought the material for the tray from NPD. Expensive for what you get. I found even closer material in bulk at a furniture fabric/upholstery shop for cheap. I used it to do the rear seat back fender wells and kick panels per the interior assembly manual ($15.00). If I can shrink the pics I'll post them. Chuck

I can't remember what we removed when we redid the upholstery but we used that insulation you see wrapped around heating/air conditioning ducts. That metallic bubble stuff. Comes in different length roles and is cheap. We plan on using that when we replace the headliner. In fact we use it whenever we want thermal/sound insulation anywhere in the car. Any big box hardware store will have it on rolls, just cut to length. Foam would be a good alternative but that will deteriorate with time.

Go to any local heating / cooling company
Get some duct liner
It is 3/8 - 1/2 thick 48 wide
It can be glued into place, one side is black
I use it for the roof, wheel wells, put a sheet behind the back seat, goes everywhere and is inexpensive.
