side mirror identification
#1
Someone noticed that the side mirrors on my Export 71 Mach 1 are different than the regular Mach 1 mirrors.

Mine have a blunt front section vs. a more bullet nose on the regular mirror.

I'm not sure if these are the original mirrors or not so I'm first trying to understand if anyone has seen these before.

I've got some emails out to my contacts with export cars to see if any of them have mirrors like this as well.

Very interesting. Can you find any part / engineering numbers inside the mirror body?

I'm guessing there's an engineering number underneath but unfortunately I'm 7500 miles away until July.

I have visually confirmed this mirror on one other japanese Mustang so far.

Just a thought. I could have been a perceived safety issue like the hood ornaments that stuck up. Maybe Japan needed a blunt end. I know you work at Ford and the requirements are crazy that have to be met. We are ruling our way into a no build situation, lol.
Hope you took lots of masks the air is getting really bad there. I am looking at a short term job but will not stay more than a few weeks.

Air purifiers have been running 24/7 for the last few weeks but Chinese New Year is around the corner so we should get a couple weeks of good air!!!

Chinese new year is unbelievable. I have not seen the river show in Shanghai but hear it is crazy. I know where I was the fireworks had everything smoked out for at least two hours. Sounded like a war going on.
I bet the sharp mirror was safety issue with Japan but do not know that.
