Seat cover repir
#1
I have a small, 1/4 to 1/8 inch hole in my new TMI seat covers, (don't ask). The damage is in an accessable area on the seat bottom edge where it's smooth with  no texture. I have checked several repair shops and they are asking $100 or better to repair the hole even with me bringing the seat in to their shop.
My question is: has anyone had any luck repairing the seats themselves with those repair kits, and if so, which one? This not a rip, but a "clean" hole just thru the top layer of vinyl only. Angry

Any picture of the damage?

You cant squeeze the sides together and glue with superglue and then SEM paint the touchup area? I dunno..just a guess

Danno,
My approach to this if it was my issue would be to suck it up and pay the $100.00 plus to get it repaired correctly. If not, you will possibly be looking at an inferior repair reminding you everyday and hating yourself in the long run...
Thanks, Jay

if hole is big enough and not distorted, you could attempt to repair by inserting a patch. Just like you would patch a bicycle inner tube tire.
Using neoprene glue, once the patch is dry to the touch, you can rub the excess with some rubbery item.
Depending on how handy you are, it could be ok and look good. But if the hole is subject to tension or if you sit on it, you will see the volume of the patch
and it probably will not stand good looking for long.

Just as @clevelandcoupe said, 100 sound a lot for a repair, but if done correctly, they repair from behind, either patching the entire piece or replacing if they have the right color.
That takes time and skills. All with all 100 for this isn't that expensive if you think about it this way. Plus you can always return to them if it would not last.

73 modified Grandé 351C. Almost done.
71 429CJ. In progress

Call TMI and ask them-They should have an option for you

"I love my Hookers!" and "Get some Strange" probably have a different connotation to non automotive enthusiasts!

Remove the upholstery yourself and take the damaged piece to your local upholstery shop.. A small cut or tear may only cost a case of beer or a few bucks for the repair.. These guys can work wonders with vinyl.. Just think of the fun you'll have putting it back together..

The person who says it cannot be done should not interrupt the person doing it.

That is a great suggestion, thanks.
