Satellite Internet Service
#1
Earthlink is my current provider and have been with them since 1997
so I am not likely to change service. They offer satellite service but
no cable in my area. Have been using DSL but at 18,000 feet from
the CO, service is slow and not Earthlink's fault. The service would be
provided by HughesNet. Another dish is not a problem as I already
have DirecTV service with no issues.

Had Hughes net for a few years, wife hated it. If you hit your data limit they would slow your downloads down. They supposedly changed the data limit but i would ask. Now use wireless air card with no download issue.

Wireless is a thought now that you mention it.
Have a wireless router and there are Google antennas
nearby. Google blanketed my town with Wi-Fi as part
of a deal to allow them to setup their home office here.
That was in their formative years and I doubt Google
needs to negotiate for office space anymore.

Ya...i had a freind on hughes net...It wasnt too bad..But sent everything in packet burst...So if he tried to play a online game he would get booted due to data loss...Was fine for just watching video's and such...But not very stable...and same with pocket i net..they offer some amazing speeds...but i rarely see anyone getting what they offer...Im always worried about how stable they are..Than i am worried pure connection speeds..But i also play some pretty demanding games on my computer...lol

Im using dsl my self...But its frontieer...And reason i went with it..Is cause my little small town of 3,000 people was one of the testing ground for fiber optic phone lines for most of washington state back in the day.....Every time i use the speed test online...It shows i got speed way above regular dsl...It shows me creeping up on t1 speeds...Town is small and good lines...But our cable service is horrid!! And our wireless is iffy...I never been a fan of the wireless..just cause everything seems to effect it alot more..weather and such....But!! If i had no choice...I would connect right up too it..better than dial up thats for sure..lol

After reading this will probably stick with DSL. Currently getting
around 1.5 Mps down which is slow but I don't D/L much data.
It is just when I try to that matters. That is when the satellite speeds
of 10/1 they advertise sounds good. Of course there is limit on data
transfer so that could be a problem.
