Picked up 78 t bird sport mirrors from the salvage yard. They are both cable operated remote control. Look just about exactly like the 7173 mirrors. Base hight is the same and teardrop mirror housing is the same. The only difference I could find is
1. the tip of the front of the base is squared off instead of pointed. If you use both t bird mirrors no one would know it's different.
2. There is a small formed crease on the bottom of the mirror teardrop housing. Wouldn't be seen when mounted.
3. Using an angle finder the base angle is 5 degrees different than the stang. Probably not that noticeable when mounted. I can't tell the difference side by side.
Just an alternative for those who want or need a right side mirror and a remote. Save some bucks too considering original 7173 mirror pairs are going for $150 +. T bird not so much.
Note I think Torino, montego, elite, and cougar mid late 70s are same as t bird .
Also note the optics in the pic make them look different size but they are nearly indistinguishable.
