Removal of entire dash?
#1
bulb
Just wondering if anyone has removed their entire metal dash from the interior. I'm into a major rewiring, cleanup, and fixup of the interior and I've got the dash pretty well stripped of everything (except that damn wiper switch!) and it looks like it's only held in by four bolts, 2 on each side. Seems if I drop the steering column, pull those 4 bolts, it should come out. Am I right?

Scott

Should add that it's a 73 vert...

Don at OMS is the master of dash removal PM or give him a call. I told him my coloumn was removed along with the harness to the engine compartment and he steered (pun) me to the easiest way to move it in 1 piece. Remove bolts to large bracket by heater box. Remove bolts on 2 smaller brackets on each side. (I think this is right) Weighs about 40 lbs.

There's more than the 4 bolts..(2 on each side) there's also bolts on the top on each side (see picture) Then the bolts for the wire braces

There is at least one bracket on the bottom of the dashboard on a very thick round piece of steel--If memory serves correct it is more to the drivers side of center. I have done it several times now on different cars, not that big of a deal anymore. If you need to fix the heater core or the cowl or ? this is the best way to do it.
