Recommendations on bolts for Idler Arm
#1
Hi,

I discovered fortunately that the bolts of something I identified as "Idler Arm" (right?) which is bolted to the frame in conjunction with the steering mechanism are the wrong ones of bad quality! One did almost sheer away from correct torquening! They are also bolted the wrong direction on so I have to cut them of - the headers are in the way!

Is this an "Idler Arm":

Are these the correct bolts for this application (for example)

Do you have any recommendations concerning a complete new idler arm? Or is there any kit to overhaul the existing one? I had found that there are many ilder arms for manual steering only... I need one for power steering.

Thankyouyellow

Yes, that is the idler arm. Our years of Mustangs use the same one for manual and power steering. The correct type and quality of them has been discussed before:

And, yes, those appear to be the correct bolts.

Those look correct, however, if standard hardware is available in your area, here's the dimensions of the bits

Bolts - 3/8"-16 x 3 5/8"
Washer - 3/8" x 1.25" x .187" thk
Nuts - 3/8" - 16 distorted thread locking nut

All hardware should be grade 8
