rear end question ? help

i have a 1971 with a c 4 auto 250 six i think its an 8 inch differential is there a way to tell the difference between an 8 and a 9 from just looking at it i also need a pass .side axle any help please and thank you

also is there a difference between the left and right side axle ?

thank you for the time to show me the vid. it helped i do have an 8 inch rear end and i found an axle on e bay 8 and 9 inch axles r the same.again thanks
