Rare Gallery of Mustang Prototype Photos
Was looking for a picture on net and found this collection of Mustang prototype photos. Shows you how far ahead they thought ahead back then. Did not see any of the 71 - 73 years. I have seen some in the past I know Ray has posted before. With computers it goes much faster now. Building the tooling then took much longer with pretty much no CNC just some machines that used punched tapes to run them. Most of the body parts had mahogany models made and plasters were pulled from them to use on a tracer mill to cut the dies. Wish I had kept some of the ones we had at work but all were tossed in the trash.

Back in the late 60's a good friend of mine that knew cars swears there was a 65 four door in Asheville. I could never track anything down don't know if it was a prototype or someone made it.
He what could a young guy have done with a Mustang station wagon with a 427 and all that room in the back, lol.

Interesting to see the dates on some of the prototypes when you realize what Mustangs were out at the time and what they were working on. Interesting to see whats going on in the background on some of those studio shots.
