Ram Air Inlet Flappers
#1
Just curious, Were the inlet Ram Air flappers in the hood scoops originally painted or were they installed unpainted. Seem to me they would have been painted black or argent to match the hood. I would think that it would look funny when they were closed, more so for the black than argent hoods.
thx

Not painted...but black plastic. The metal flaps themselves were just painted black, but those faded pretty quickly.

Funny you should ask about them: When I took mine apart to repair them years ago, on a whim I painted the flaps bright orange. It is mostly pretty difficult to see them under most circumstances, but if you are looking at them at the correct angle in good sunlight, revving the engine makes them "blink" on and off. Corny...

That is just one of many, many insignificant little changes I made to the car as a means of "marking" it in case it ever gets stolen ( again!), and I have a chance to identify it if recovered. There are literally hundreds of my business cards attached/ hidden throughout every section of the car, inside and out. No one would ever be able to find and remove every one of them. Just my paranoia...

Good idea about hiding the business cards. Yeah my was stolen once and I always worry about that too. Thx for the info.

I thought of inserting a couple of LED's behind the flappers

"I love my Hookers!" and "Get some Strange" probably have a different connotation to non automotive enthusiasts!
