Yep. That is why I put "The one of none 1970 Boss 351" on the Thread description...

Back in 1981 I pulled up beside a 1970 white Mustang sportsroof. It looked like a Boss 302 or maybe a Mach. It had 1970 Boss 302 type side stripes with "Boss 351" decals on the fenders. When I pulled in - driving my white real Boss 351, it was kinda funny.
He left pretty quick. Guess he had been telling folks he had a real Boss 351. I was hoping to talk to him at least.

The car on the mug reminded me of that time.

For some reason, the 70 cars don't do it for me.
If they had real intakes on the sides it would be real cool though.
There are miles too many updates we take for granted on our 71-73 models.
Eg, flush door handles, concealed wipers, etc

Many of those updates are GM-influenced, considering Knudsen brought over a few of his design flunkies from GM when he took over the reigns at Ford in February of '68.
He is the one mostly responsible for ordering the Mustang to be enlarged from a compact "pony car" to a near-intermediate sized coupe. He also insisted on many GM-pioneered styling designs be incorporated...and they were: Hidden wipers, full length hood, full width grill, flush door handles, eurathane front bumper, integral power steering, variable ration steering box, etc...

Lots of people have complained over the years about this GM influence, but (like most here, I assume) not me...I love those features. That is why (among other things) I like the big-bodies best! (That take-no-shit 429 under the hood is another reason I love this car...)
