Power steering pump pulley
#1
Just pressed the pulley on to my pump, and surprise, surprise.I didn't really look at the old pulley/shaft before I pulled the old one off. I pressed the pulley on until the tool wouldn't go any further and have about 1/8 in from the end of the shaft to the end of the pulley. Should it be flush?

My pulley looks like it would need to be pressed in another 1/8" to be flush with the end of the shaft, so it sounds like you're good.

I did mine 73 351C...
I took careful notice of how it was installed originally it had 1/8 shaft showing past pulley.

It never hurts to check alignment with a long straightedge from crank pulley up.

Are you saying that you have about a 1/8" of the shaft BEYOND the end of the pulley? I remember I removed the bracket from the old pump with the pulley still attached. I don't think I could have removed the bracket bolts if the pulley was pressed on that far on the old pump.
I will check all the alignments though, good call..........
