please help with wiring!
#1
hey, new to the site here. i have a 73 mustang mach 1 im rebuilding. so the interior is all apart (thats how i bought it). there are two wire bundles by the passenger and driver seats. (not the wires going to the tail lights).

anyway, theres a black connector (i believe this goes to the center console for the clock) only on the driver side
theres a pink wire with a white stripe on both sides ( i believe this is the seatbelt retractor by the shoulder strap)
theres a green connector only on the passenger side (i believe this is the weight sensor in the seat)
theres a black connector on both sides with an orange and a black wire going into it. this is where im confused. i believe this connector is for the automatic back release switch. it releases the back when the doors are opened on the two doors.

but i cant find any place to plug this into in my seats. did all mustangs have these installed or was it just an option and i have the wiring already there for it?

ps if you can tell me if my guesses are right or wrong about the wires, please do, wiring is not my forte!

Console wiring will be in the center of the dash by heater control

All the wires you describe sound like seat sensors and release system wires-
only 12 /72 and 73 cars had the seat sensors
Other wires are for the release system - Pretty sure cars only got the wires if there were ordered with the option. Someone may have changed your seats at some point.
There were some 71's with a auto seat release delete credit on window sticker / invoices - maybe they still had the wires ?

Hi Don,
Do you know what the black plug is on the last photo(driver seat)?
Thanks,
Eddy

here are the wires i have in my car:

passenger side: http://imgur.com/HEBEpxa
driver side: http://i.imgur.com/8tQjEJE.jpg

the black one on the driver side i believe is the clock in the center console, thats what i meant when i talked about it earlier. theres a connector on my console for my clock that looks just like it.

The clock connecter comes from behind the center gage cluster panel at the bottom area. I have that plug labeled on my build. The green plug with the orange wire is for the automatic seat release. The other black plug is probably for the seat sensor but I'll have to verify to be sure

alright, ill have to look for the clock sensor than, thanks! ill probably start labeling and wiring tomorrow. if anyone can confirm the black plug that would be helpful.

theres only one plug on my seats and thats on my passenger seat. so were the extra wires just automatically wired in and the other components not installed unless the package was bought? i just want to make sure i have as much connected as possible before its all covered in carpet.

alright cool. so i got the weight sensor on my seats but i dont have the release switch on my seats. so i must not have had them installed from the factory. thanks!

one last thing, on the seat belt retractor wires, they have the clip at the top to clip into the seatbelts. one side is cut and i dont have the connector. is there anyway i can get a connector or just connect the wires without it?

Please let me know if you need a clear pic how and what color wires goes to the console and clock. I have mine all apart and just placing my harness back in. This should be simple since my brother in law has an auto electric business for the past 40 yrs. I need him to check my connections before I place my dash pad and all the plastic trim pieces back in place.
I have a problem finding where just one connector fastens to and my Tac wires also. Going to have to make that phone call.
Just let me know
