Pictures in threads
#1
I have always been uploading pictures to photobucket and then linking them into my posts.

I have just recently noticed that if you click on the "add a picture" button that there is an option to link from your computer. But, is this actually a link or does it copy the image to the site. I guess what I am really asking is, if I post by this method and then delete or move the picture from my computer, does the picture still show in the thread or is it broken because the link is no longer valid.

73 ragtop, 1999 Mustang Bright Atlantic Blue Paint, Phoenix Engine 302-335HP,  Edelbrock Carb & Performer manifold; c4 with 2000 stall and shiftkit; 3:55 auburn limited slip differential, Hedman shorties; Car Chemistry Exhaust

Classic Air; Tilt Steering Wheel; 1999 Chrysler Sebring bucket Seats ; power windows;

Uploading a picture makes a copy and it is stored, so moving or deleting the picture from your computer, or from another cloud source, will not remove it from the forum.

I've never used a hosting service. I simply attach them by uploading them towards the bottom of the page.
That way they're on the forum and not simply linked to from an external source.
I always try and cut the middle man whenever possible. Fewer possibilities for mistakes. Smile

I am always over my limit on pictures on the Forum and have to go into posts and delete them so they will not be there I guess. I would say if someone does a search and opens one of my old posts that had pictures they will be gone. I am over my limit now and will have to delete hundreds of them.

can a moderator shed a littl light on this?  Is it the number of pictures, or a limited amount of total size used.  I might just keep using photobucket, since I've always posted to forums like that in the past.

If i ever lose my account there i will cease to exist.......

Yup, there is a limited space for each member. Most don't ever reach it but guys like David who contribute a whole lot to the forum may break the bank.
If I remeber correctly the space also depends on your status as a member, VIPs get more upload space.
