pic of of 72 HO Carb Please
#1
OK so i was told at first that the carb is orginal. but i was than told its not because it has the hook up on the side for electric choke and 72 HO r manual chokes so its not the right one. well i took the tag numbers of the carb and ran them and they come back as the right carb for the car. does anyone have a good pictures of the carb so it can tell me if i have the right one.!!!

You are confusing me a bit because you say manual choke, but i think you mean an automatic choke? When i hear manual, i think of my 72 bronco with a cable thru the firwall and a knob on the dash you adjust as the engine warms up. Your HO should have an automatic choke with a pair of small tubes running from the pass side of the carb into the choke stove in the intake manifold. Are you saying your Motorcraft carb has the correct tags, but there are electric power wires attached to the side of the carb?

manual in a cable from the carb to the knob under your dash. i have a cable with a knob on the right side of the driver side. but it is not connected to anything on the carb. the tag on the carb says its a right for the car but i just been told so many different things that a pic of the carb will help so much.

that is the pic of the carb that i have. but i just what to make sure.

If the number is correct then you have the Motorcraft 4300D which would be correct for your car. And if you have a black round housing on the passenger side with a small metal semi-round cradle looking piece attached to it then it is an automatic choke. If you see something sYing manual it probably refers to a manual transmission. I have never seen a 7173 with a choke cable thru the firewall, but i guess its possible. IF your carb has the housing on the pass side there is no cable to the dash. But you will put the heater hose on the cradle and that is the "climatic" feature of the auto choke. Heh heh. There is lots of info on the 4300D. I hear ford like them because they dont leak and are a reduced fire hazard compared to other carbs of their day. On the otherhand, its a spreadbore so you cant swap out to a Holley easily. And its around a 715cfm so some guys prefer bigger. You will need to get to know that carb.

the cable runs from the carb(but is not connected to anything) threw the firewall to the a choke knob on the right side of the driver. right above is right knee.

i thought the carb is a 750 cfm for the HO?

Nope. 715cfm....and since you have a rare car now, with original parts, we are all expecting to see you restore it like original so we can see it in car shows! Heh heh. Im still thinking the carb should work without a manual choke cable though...

I would guess that someone didn't like the way the original choke worked and converted it to manual, and then later decided to try electric. The typical manual choke conversion kits had a round black knob with either a white C or Choke on it.

sorry i thought since it has a choke knob and cable running to the carb and since its a high preformance car i thought i would come with a manual choke like my 67 k-code has. sorry my bad.
