PCV Routing??? 302
#1
I've just been starting this car and moving a few feet from time to time, never had on the road.  I finally took it for a spin and it started smoking from under hood within a minute or so.  I returned to garage and oil was dripping off and smoke was rolling off the exhaust manifold.  I determined that the oil was coming out of dip stick.  I believe the problem is caused by there being (2) PCV.  The one on driver side (which is also the oil fill location) hose runs to front of carb.  The hose for the PCV on passenger side was just laying on back of manifold (may have be ran to air cleaner).  I didn't think there should be 2 PCV so I've removed the one from passenger side.

Should I run the passenger side PCV to the carb and remove PCV from driver side and replace oil filler cap (use one that does not use a pcv)?

thanks
Bob

There should be a PCV in the oil cap running to the carb. On the passenger side there should just be an elbow with a line running to the air cleaner or you can fit a breather filter in it.

73 Grandé H Code. Headman long tube headers, T-5 Transmission, 3.70 Traclok, Lowered 1" all around, Aussie 2v heads w/ 2.19 intake, 1.71 exhaust, screw in studs, full roller cam 608/612 lift 280/281 duration LSA 112, Quick Fuel 750 CFM double pumper, AirGap intake.

Agree with 73pony 100%. Make sure you are getting good vacuum at the business end of thePCV valve at idle.

However, if you have oil coming out of the dipstick, you might have bigger problems than a PCV problem. Oil out the dipstick is usually caused by excessive crankcase pressure. If it's still pushing oil out, A) verify the engine isn't overfilled with oil. B) do a compression test.
