Ken do you have the original 71 radio with the Mustang logo?
Might even have a D0 [ 1970 ] date stamp with a paper D1 tag glued over it if it's early enough.

Since we are discussing radios, here is the post I made that shows the original 8 track tape delivered with 72 Ford models equipped with the 8 track. This also the radio I purchased from the seller you made contact with. I have it playing through the door speakers with this installation.

You nailed it Don... the paper tag (glue) was long dried out, but the tag had fallen into a crevice at the bottom of the radio. I found it interesting in that the 2 digits after the D0 stamped into the body have not been included as far as I can see, and then covered over by the paper D1ZA label.

I want to get this repaired if possible.

I've heard good things about this guy but, I've not used him myself. Chuck

He does not repair, but has a guy nearby that does the work for him, so I will touch base with him also. Thanks

There must be companies that repair radios your side of the pond. We have specialists that repair old car radios here in the U.K. Look at both options replace/repair before you commit

I sent my radio into this place for repair. About $270 quoted for the repair, we'll see. Will update once I get it back.

I had installed an old school cassette stereo in my dash as I get ready to put that completed assembly back in the car, but at the end of the day; you either return the car to original appearance or you open the flood gates...

As much as I would love to play my old cassettes, it won't be on this car. The original AM/FM stereos on these cars sounded really good for back in the day. It will be fine for my purposes with this restoration.

Maybe, I can convince my better half that I miss my cassettes and I should buy a driver '71-3... Better wait until this car is done.
