NON-USA Mustang VIN Decoding
#1
http://www.terranimpact.com/site/automot...indata.php

Interesting site showing info concerning cars built outside USA. Ford called them 'knock down kits.

Here is some related threads with tons of info:

For anyone with non USA VIN'd cars - please share as much info as possible! These are unique and very interesting cars. And they are 71-3 MUSTANGS!!!!!

Great find on the info.
The term knock down or kit is use by others also. When BMW built their plant in S.C. they brought kit cars over to get the plant started. It costs too much to build tooling in Germany and also the U.S. for the BMW 3 series that they started with. They eventually did build the firewall, front and rear floor, rear seat/package tray and trunk tooling to run in the U.S.. We ran those tools and they were built in South Africa. When they finished with them in the U.S. I think they went to a factory in the orient to make 3 series parts there.
It is neat to learn more about the odd mustangs that are out there. I still want a UTI.

With those informations I found too a few days before I was able to verify the Mustang in Germany in which Manu from France is interested as an original Mexican one (73 1/2)...
