NEED HELP- Brakes
#1
So the p.o. had done a MANUAL front disc conversion he said it was ssbc but turns out it was a summit kit he had installed..http://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-bk...el/mustangThe brakes have never been right from day 1..Although he installed a new master he also installed a new supposed manual disc drum proportioning valve..I have a feeling it's not correct..Doing some testing full lock up of the brakes feels like the rear is locking up first OR all 4 are locking up at the same time..Bias isn't correct..Fronts should lock up first..So I purchased a wilwood adjustable proportioning valve & thats where I'm going to start..The help I need is ALL the sizes of the flare nuts THAT GO INTO THE CURRENT STOCK VALVE..The Wilwood is setup for ALL 3/8-24 FITTINGS I'm hoping I can find adapters so I don't have to start a major project bending all new lines..SO if someone could tell me the sizes or even a source for the adapters it would be appreciated

Scott that looks like a drum block
Disc block has the switch connection on the side
Even going to manual disc - he should have the disc block in it.

Any auto parts store should have flair adaptors in stock

Don,

What's the difference in the disc block and the drum block?? different bias applied to front and rear?? I am running my stock drum manual brake distribution block with manual discs at all 4 corners. Seems to stop great. Should I be looking to switch it?? I am going to be installing the power brake set up probably this winter. I have the pedal assembly, booster and master already, will I need the disc distribution block?

Sorry Scott, not trying to hijack the thread Big Grin Also I always get all my adapter fittings at my local NAPA. they seem have a pretty good selection.

Thanks for the replys guys ! As I kinda diagnosed correctly the problem is in the proportioning valve the p.o. installed..In researching further I pulled the receipt he had for the valve he installed..BINGO he didn't install a proportioning valve at all..He INSTALLED A DISTRIBUTION BLOCK that means 50 50 braking.. no bias at all !!!! big freaking dangerous mistake on his part. He's lucky he didn't drive the car much as I am BUT I knew from the first drive there was a major problem...Heres what he installed http://www.mustangsunlimited.com/itemdy0...=672075+01
This is the correct part THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN INSTALLED
http://www.mustangsunlimited.com/itemdy0...y=EMUSTANG
So I may just try my local parts house grab the correct part save the wilwood adjustable setup for the q code with the cobra disc conversion since I'm going to fab up all my own lines for that car anyway..I think this way I wouldn't have to mess with any new lines fittings..Keep ya posted
