More shifting issues

Well I'm stuck.  I'm hoping someone can take a look at his video clip of my shifter.

There is a lot of play in it as you can see.

If  you crank of the volume you can here it click as it shift...sometimes - really quick - with very little movement then it won't shift at all.

I've tightened every thing under car.   Here is no tightening the nut under the neutral safety switch - there other side of that nut is flat, not sure if that's been altered or not.

From the amount of slop I'd say the bushing is gone and the hole is now egg shaped. Just a guess. Chuck

Step one is to get some new bushings in that thing. It'll tighten it up quite a bit. This was literally the first project I did on my first Mustang back in '89.

 That bolt comes off and insert the bushing....

I'll need a new neutral safety switch....the end had deteriorated - due to the heat here in S. AZ.

There's one on each side of the housing. Lube with white lithium grease.

i had the same issue last yr too. i didn't know they made the bushing at the time so i used copper tubing to sleeve it. worked great.
