marti report
#1
runninpony
Heres my marti,
Does this mean my Mach 1 was just a sportsroof with the black mach 1 stripes ?I've been surfing other members marti's.Did they only come with magnum 500's & ram air hoods (351 2V)if listed as an option ? I have mach 1 buckets, full size console & standard interior ,so obviously I have donated parts. Huh

The Magnum 500 wheels were not available on the 1973 Mustangs. The standard wheels are the trim ring/hub caps variants but the forged aluminum wheel was available as an option (on all Mustangs).

The NASA (NACA) hood was standard (non-functional) on all Mach 1s but the functional ram air set-up was also available as an option.

The base Mustang interior is standard for the 1973 Mach 1. The Mach 1 Sports Interior was an option.

Keep in mind that there were a LOT of great standard features on ALL of the 35,439 Mach 1s built in 1973Smile.

While you did not share your actual VIN sequence number, it would appear (based on the September 12, 1972 production date) that your Mustang was one of the FIRST to be built for the 1973 Model year. The assigned sequence number for September 1972 are 100100-125200. The assigned numbers for October 1972 are 100200-143200 and November 1972 are 100200-157800.

It would appear that your Mustang is TRULY one of the earliest one produced for 1973.

Enjoy your Mach 1 and IF it is not the way you want it, build it that way...it is YoursSmile.

Thanks for the reply, that is really cool if mine was the first batch of 73's.I know it's not completely original & never will be with a 460 but it is solid, fun to drive & I just like it ,so that's all that matters right ? All the other imperfections can be improved over time. You guys have always been helpful & friendly, this site is truly a treasure for us mustang guys!!!!Smile

That's the attitude, Eric. Mine isn't perfect either, but it's MINE! And I'll have 100 little projects on the car to keep me busy now.

Thats why I never ordered a Marti for mine. It really did not matter to me how it came from the factory because I had no intentions of returning to that point.
