Magnum 500
#1
Information requested,

New 15 "magnum 500 steel wheels (5x4.5)
2x 7J + 2x 8J
New tires BFGoodrich Radial T / A
2x 275x60x15 + 2x 245x60x15

Will this size of rims work under a Mach1 - 1973.

Where should I be careful about the proper quality (China or USA stuff)

Thanks,
eddyw

All 3 sources say made in USA but I can't confirm that. I can say the finish on the back side of the Wheel Vintiques is very rough and full of scratches. The front side is fine other than the center 5 spoke are smooth chrome rather than the original style silver satin. 15x7 with 4.25 back spacing in front with 15x8 with 4.5 back spacing (4.75 would be better) in rear will work. 235x60 in front and 255x60 in rear will fit for sure. 245x60 and 275x60 is a close fit but does not rub on my car. It is close in spots (upper ball joint, frame at idler arm). Chuck

Anyone know when were the steel magnum 500 with the chrome trim rings used on mustangs if ever?

Or, we're they only used on GM, Mopar or AMC?

The magnum 500 with trim rings didn't come on any Mustang They came on Torino/Ranchero and Cougar/Montego starting in 74.

I have done this twice: I bought REAL magnum 500 centers, non chromed. Then I had chrome rims put on them.

The centers have held up well. The rims, not so well.

I would sure like to know where you can go to get a nice chrome rim. But one thing is for sure. I would not buy them before I inspected them personally.

I put 245/60R15 on all four corners of Dad's 73 Q Code with no problems. Love the way it handles. It had 235/60R14 on stock steel wheels when he bought it.

I personaly think any of the rims are made in the USA, I think they are only Packaged in the USA.

I was talking to a guy ar a carshow, and what he did to give the rim the dull look, was as soon as he got them he painted them with a a few coats of a flat clear coat, he also said it protected them from road grime and moisture to pervent rust.

I put the 15X7 Wheel Vintiques on my 73' about 5 years ago and the black paint on two of them blew off the first time I washed the car. Called them and they said they would be happy to fix them if I dismounted the tires and shipped them back cross country. At my own expense....

For obvious reasons, I buy a quart of black INK and use it to touch up my Magnums.

Of course, the blank ink is a special blend, probably about $150 a quart. But I got it for free because it was not sold by it's expiration date. Made by Videojet for commercial/military use.

For the record, I can get ink to dry.
