Lower edge of windshield - missing something?
#1
I did not find any pictures of this area. Can you please look at these pictures and tell me if there is some trim missing on the lower edge of the windshield where it nears the cowl. This looks weird, like something missing there. You can also see the glass chipped.

There is a U shaped piece of plastic that goes the whole length at the bottom of the Windshield. I think that's why you have that chip on the first picture.

What is this trim called or is there a part number? I am trying to locate one as mine is missing.

[EDIT]
Found it, part number: D0VY-6503243-A. It's listed as windshield seal or channel strip.

NPD sells it:

I have not bought it yet, but I am sure you could use a universal channel strip of the same size. I have not done the research about it, but it should be a matter of measuring the width of the windshield and finding the right channel strip.

Thought I'd chime in and mention that, from experience, these replacement ones tend to expand when hot and fall off. I got mine from NPD. In Canada, we have a great automotive adhesive/sealer called GOOP. It's black, really sticky, but when cured works very well to hold items like that strip in place. I'm sure you have it in the US as well. RTV didn't work for me and I had to redo it. Also, that strip is a bugger to fit without removing the wipers and those support pieces.

You can also use a heat gun to close the channel up and make the plastic curve to better fit the windshield. While you are in that area you should take something like a piece of plastic and go under the windshield and fish out all the leaves and trash that gets stuck in there. Compressed air also helps. Leaving the trash there leads to upper cowl rust out and leaks from holding water. There is quite a gap between the lower edge of the windshield and the adhesive that holds it in.
