Just brcause it's rare, doesn't mean it's desirable.....
OK.... We all know that there are cars out there that are very limited editions, or production runs. There's a reason for that. Many of them were just not desirable. Case in point. There is a 71 Mach 1 on eBay with a starting bid of $30k. Yes it's a Mach 1. Yes it's a 429 car. Yes it's 1 of 1, but a bright yellow car with a bright red (excuse me, Vermilion) interior? Seriously? I'm guessing that the guys (and gals) on the assembly line had a lot of "off colored" coments about this one as she rolled down the line. Was the person who ordered it color blind, or on a bad acid trip? Who am I to judge? You could always change the interior to black or white, but then there goes the rarity. I'm not even going to discuss the black vinyl top.... Oh well. I got a good laugh out of it. Hope you did too. If by chance this is your favorite color combination, please accept my apology. rofl

"One of the nicest, most original 1971 Ford Mach 1's in the world" <~~` should we call and inform him that Ford never did a full vinyl top like that? hehe
My car was originally a vermilion interior.

Looking at the photos the interior is very nice.

I would in retrospect have loved to restore my interior to vermillion however it was utterly beyond repair. At the time black was the only really complete interior setup so I switched to black.

Restored my car would of been silver with red interior but that isn't going to happen.
The red grows on you in person. Anyhoo still pretty cool.

Lot of things wrong with that car. Somebody installed reflectors on the wood grain inserts for the door interior as well.
6 bids at $31k isn't chicken feed. It's also completely unbelievable for a car restored with its dealer-added ghetto accessories intact.

That said - price aside - if it wasn't for the vinyl and the wheelwell brightwork, that would be a sharp looking Mach.

So what if it looks like a McDonald's promo? Wink

I like the vermillion interior and I like the grabber yellow just not together. Nice looking car though.

My Mustangs:
71 M-code Mach 1, Medium Blue/White Sport, 4R70W, 3L50, Factory Ram Air.
72 Q-code Mach 1, Pewter/Black Sport, 4-spd, 3L25.
65 Convertible, Britney Blue/White/White, more modified than original.
05 Convertible, Legend Lime/Tan/Tan, future classic??
Well I can deal with the interior/exterior combo better than the hood treatment and side stripes not matching (gloss or matte PICK ONE) I have never seen that type of vinyl top on our cars, could it be special ordered in 70? But no matter what, it's a damn cool car!
Well maybe the owner was Mezikin?

LOL even my sig line offended somebody!
Simple question...
Do the anal picky experts on this forum believe that this is a genuine 17k mile car with that vinyl top and gloss hood treatment...
Yes or no?

That's hard to say. It is a very clean car. The description says it's had 1 repaint. I wouldn't doubt that it's an original 17K car. (By the way, I'm not an expert. Just anal)
