This sounds like the beginning of a Larry the Cable guy skit.

Anyone else?

Yes Auron. And many 3 speed cars get converted to 4 speeds - usually about the same time the 2 bbl carbs and intakes get changed to 4bbls. Either that or the pedals get confiscated to perform a auto-to-manual shift changeover.

Anyone who ordered a close ratio coupe in 71 was a real serious and smart mustang buyer. I am guessing many were for testing programs like the Firestone twins. The coupe was the stiffest and lightest body and you could get it with a 429 and a 4 speed. Just toss the back seat and drop the clutch! Smoke them skinny 70 profile tires!

I have considered swapping my vert body out to a coupe for this reason...and also to have a light 4 point and real belts.
